Leech therapy: background, processes and effects
The medicinal use of leeches has an exciting and long tradition. Even the Egyptians of the pharaohs knew about the healing effects of the small animals.
The natural combination of active ingredients in the leech is unique. The saliva ingredients can help with a variety of diseases.
The leeches I use are classified as finished medicinal products and are subject to the same safety, quality and effectiveness requirements that are placed on all medicinal products subject to authorization.
For which diseases could leech therapy be helpful for you (small selection):
- acute and chronic joint pain, such as thumb saddle joint arthrosis, knee joint arthrosis
- Varicose veins, spider veins
- Tendon and tendonitis like tennis elbow
- tinnitus (sudden hearing loss)
- rheumatism
- Spine syndrome
- lumbago
- High blood pressure
- A headache
- Menstrual problems
- gout
Treatment procedure:
A week before the leech therapy there is a 30-minute consultation.
The treatment itself usually lasts between 60 and 120 minutes and depends on the drinking speed of the little helpers.
The bite of the leech is almost painless because the leech releases pain-relieving substances into the tissue. In the further course, the leech introduces the active substances into the tissue when sucking.
The small bite wound bleeds for a longer period of time and is sterile bandaged after treatment.
The next day there is another bandage change.
Checking the wound after a week is recommended.
Effect:
Leeches are wonderful "little helpers" from the animal kingdom.
In their saliva there are substances that have anti-inflammatory, blood circulation, antibiotic and blood circulation effects.
In most cases, a positive effect is already reported after treatment.
